Abducted Teenage Girl Ese Oruru Denies Being Kidnapped, Says She Wants To Remain in Kano With Lover

Ese Oruru, who was allegedly kidnapped from Bayelsa State to Kano, said she was not interested in reuniting with her family and denied reports that she was abducted from her home in Bayelsa State. In an exclusive audio recording obtained by the online publication today, the girl also said she eloped with her lover to Kano in order to convert to Islam.

“My name is Aisha Chuwas. I am 17-year-old. I came here to be a Muslim and I will stay here.” 

Human rights lawyer, Huwaila Mohammed, who was given access to the girl at the Zonal Police Headquarters in Kano, said upon interrogation, she understood the girl was never forced to convert to Islam. She also had access to Miss Oruru’s lover and established that he is just 18 years old, 'not anywhere above 20'.

BREAKING: Rev King To Die By Hanging

The Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence passed on the founder of the Christian Praying Assembly, Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, alias Rev King, ‎by a Lagos High Court in Ikeja for the murder and attempted murder of some members of his church in 2006. 

A seven-man panel of Justices ‎of the apex court led by Justice Walter Onnoghen, in a unanimous verdict on Friday afternoon, dismissed the appeal filed by the cleric against the concurrent judgments of the Lagos High Court in Ikeja and Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal, which had both convicted him of the alleged crimes. 

Ex-MBGN Sandra Petgrave & Husband Jailed In The US for Fraud

Sandra Petgrave won the MBGN title in 1992. Her and her husband, Chiedu Chukwuka, have six children – four girls and twin boys. They were arrested, tried, and are sentenced for fraud and are to pay millions of dollars in fines. She will spend 18 months in prison, while her husband’s sentence will be much longer – nine years. 

This isn’t the first time the couple has been on the wrong side of the law. On August 2 2009, the ex queen was charged with battery against her husband and spent two days in jail before being released on bail.

Pope Francis' Pregnant Secretary Found Dead In Her Home

34-year-old Miriam Wuolou, the Pope's seven-months pregnant receptionist was found dead in her apartment on the outskirts of Rome. She had reportedly worked at Pope Francis' home and a priests' guesthouse called Santa Marta for years. Wuolou is from Eritrean descent.

The Italian press reports she worked as a kind of gatekeeper for the Pontiff, as well as for the bishops and cardinals who stay there.

Ms Wuolou had a serious kind of diabetes which had led doctors to warn her that her pregnancy was at risk.

Buhari Rejects Invitation To Join Coalition Of Islamic States

President Muhammadu Buhari has tactically rejected an invitation by Saudi Arabia to join the Coalition of Islamic States against Terror. 

Buhari, who is on a week-long visit to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, told his host ‎and ruler of Saudi Arabia. King Salman Bin Abdul-Aziz, ‎that rather than joining the coalition, Nigeria would support the coalition. ‎

A small plane with 21 people on board has gone missing. This happened while flying in a mountainous area in Nepal. The plane lost contact after taking off from Pokhara - a resort town west of Kathmandu. According to officials, it was heading north to Jomsom - the starting point for trekkers going into the mountains.

Pirates Captured By Navy After They Hijacked Oil Tanker (Photos)

Nigerian sailors rescued a hijacked oil tanker in a dramatic night-time rescue in which they killed one pirate, the Nigerian navy announced as it escorted the ship into Lagos harbour. Four pirates were captured while another two members of the gang escaped in a separate boat. 

One other pirate was killed in the army raid on the Panama-flagged Maximus, owned by a company in the United Arab Emirates, said Rear Admiral Henry Babalola. He said the navy is still searching for two crew taken hostage by two of the hijackers who are thought to have escaped in a pirate vessel.

Governor Wike Suspends 3 Local Government Chairmen For Failing To Attend Meeting

Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers on Monday announced the suspension of three local government caretaker committee chairmen for failing to attend scheduled security town hall meeting. The governor announced the suspension at Omoku, headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni council area of the state. He listed the affected chairmen to include those of Abua/Odual, Ahoada West and Ahoada East council areas.

First Case of Zika Virus Recorded in Ontario, Canada

Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Long-term Care, has confirmed its first wave of Zika virus in the capital after an individual tested positive for the virus. 

The patient had gone to Colombia in the South Americas and returned into the capital with the virus. It is unknown if the patient is male or female, though it has been confirmed the patient is not pregnant. 

Although small cases (Nine, 9) have previously been reported in certain States in Canada -in British Columbia, Alberta and Quebec —this is the first case in its capital, Ontario.
