Hajiya Belli, the mother of the Taraba state deputy governor who was kidnapped on Tuesday in Mutum Biyu has appealed to her children to meet the demands of her captors to secure her freedom. The elderly woman made the appeal through a phone call to a member of her family, Daily Trust learnt.
A member of the deputy governor’s family Mallam Bala told Daily Trust in Mutum Biyu that they have spoken with their mother severally and she was hale and hearty. Bala also said they spoke with the kidnappers through the phones they stole from the house when they abducted their mother. He said the abductors were demanding for N300 million as ransom.
Speaking on the incident, chairman of Gassol local government area, Alhaji Tukura Bashiru said the kidnapping of the deputy governor's mother was the fifth of such cases recorded in the area in recent times.
