National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Ejigbo LCDA Chapter, has appointed thirteen Directors to manage the affairs of its Directorates in the Local government area. The appointees who were inaugurated at the Local government Secretariat in Ejigbo, Lagos, were full of joy as they filed out in numbers to take their oath of office.
Addressing the appointees, the Chairman of NYCN, Ejigbo LCDA Chapter, Hon. Ismail Shonekan, said that the appointees should see the appointment as a call to serve the youths of the Local government, adding that they were appointed based on their capability, education, integrity and experience in their chosen careers.
Shonekan stressed that they should use their wealth of experience and technical know-how in their respective careers to workout programmes that would empower and promote the youths of the LCDA among their contemporaries. In his comment, the Head of Agriculture, Youths and Social Development of the Local government, Mr E.O Ajose, urged the appointees to be of good character and make sure they carry the youths of the Local government along in policy formulation and implementation.
Ajose said that the department and local government are ready to assist in financing the programmes initiated by the Youth Council, saying that plans are on ground to promote youth development in Local government.
He added that the appointees should avoid rancour among themselves and as well run an all-inclusive administration thereby carry along other warring group.
"In the budget, Youths are allotted large sum, so we want you to come up with programmes that will have direct impact on the youths of Ejigbo and we are ready to support financially", said Ajose while commenting, the representative of the Executive Secretary of Ejigbo LCDA, Barr Jaiye Alabi, Mr Adelabu Hakeem, assured the youths of the support of the Executive Secretary, saying that the door of consultation with the Executive Secretary is open for the youths.
Hakeem stated that the Executive Secretary is in support of any youths oriented programmes that will add value to the youths in the local government.
The Directorates include, Employment and Social Security, Power, Agrobusiness, Legal, Works, Security, Youths Enterprise and Business, Media and Publicity, Protocol, Wealth Creation, Home Affairs and Religion.
